Bantry and Beyond

Today we drove, well Michael drove, from Kinsale to Bantry and then out and around Sheep's Head. Before coming here he should have rented a right hand drive vehicle in Anguilla and then spent a few days driving 100km/hr around sharp bends on narrow roads in oncoming traffic. It is still nerve-racking and exhausting on day three here in Ireland. And driving out around Sheep's Head was no picnic to be sure.
Pretty, huh?
But how would you like to be a waiter around here where they have traffic signs like this?
oh and that was the BIGGER road out on Sheep's Head.
Even down town there was this line drawn down the middle of the road....
What the hell is that supposed to mean?

At the end of the day, though, quite literally, what is wearing us out is the fact that the sun never seems to set. Here's the waterfront in Bantry at 7P.
And here it is at 9P (sorry slightly different angle but the sky is now reflected in the water)
I think you can see my point. When are we supposed to sleep when we don't even realize it's dinner time until nearly 8P? It's lovely, but it is killing us.

  1. Gotta love that line down the middle of the road! You know, alcohol is a problem there.
